Our Story
Carpet Emporium was founded by Mr Drabble (centre) in 1950. Don (left) started working for Mr. Drabble in Carpet Emporium in 1972, aged 14.
Don opened his first shop on Bristol Road in Gloucester in 1976, with the help of his mother Sofia.

When Mr. Drabble retired in 1980, Don bought Carpet Emporium Cheltenham off him – the shop he had worked in as a boy. With the help of his new girlfriend Mary, teenage cousin Johnny, mother Sofia and Mary’s brother Eamon, both the Cheltenham and Gloucester shops thrived.
As Carpet Emporium grew, we needed more space. We took on our warehouse unit in Kingsditch in 1992, where we had countless bank holiday sales over the years.

After many happy years in Great Norwood Street, we moved to our new showroom on Bath Road in 2010.
After 70+ years of trading in the Gloucestershire area, we still strive to provide the highest quality products and friendly customer service that has kept us in business for so many years.
